Resourceful Geoscience Solutions is a boutique geological and mineral exploration consultancy focused on delivering high value professional technical services to the mining and exploration industries.
The Opportunity
This is a dynamic role with opportunities for participation in all ongoing projects including both field and desktop work. The GIT will perform duties as assigned to assist senior staff and management with the delivery of professional services to our clients. Typical functions will include but will not be limited to:
Participation in geological field programs of varying complexity including geological mapping, prospecting, drilling, and geochemical sampling.
3D modelling of geology and mineral deposits.
Displaying geoscientific data in 2D and 3D software to create maps and promotional imagery.
Analyzing and interpreting geoscientific data to inform exploration strategy.
Research and digitization of historical geoscientific and mineral exploration data from government archives.
Communicating results, activities, and recommendations to clients.
While performing desktop functions the GIT is expected work remotely on an hourly basis. Employees are free to schedule their own work hours but are expected to maintain reasonable internal and external deadlines and project schedules. Field based functions will require travel throughout the province, country or internationally and may require irregular or rotation-based work schedules and long workdays up to 12 hours.
Start date: Flexible
Type: Contract - Hourly/Daily
Pay Range: 30.00-45.00 per hour / 300.00 – 450.00 per day
The Candidate
The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and a commitment to the highest standards of health and safety in the workplace. The ideal candidate is an early career professional and a willingness to learn is their most fundamental qualification.
Requirements:
1-4 years of experience in mineral exploration or mining.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology or Earth Science.
Eligible to register as a Member in Training with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Nova Scotia.
Commitment to working safely.
Ability and willingness to work remotely with minimal supervision.
Ability and willingness to travel internationally.
Willingness to travel to remote work sites for up to 3 weeks at a time.
Class 5 driver’s license.
Assets:
Second language skills.
Experience with industry specific software applications: Leapfrog Geo, QGIS, ArcMap, Geoscience Analyst, Geosoft, Micromine.
Skills in orienteering or wilderness navigation.
